President Trump endorses challengers in Republican primaries
President Trump has endorsed candidates against Republican lawmakers who opposed him on key votes. Several incumbents face primary challenges backed by the president.

Bill Cassidy of Louisiana lost his primary after voting to convict Trump in the 2021 impeachment proceedings. Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky faces a primary opponent who received Trump's endorsement.
Primary challenges in Texas Rep.
Dan Crenshaw lost his primary in Texas after running without Trump's endorsement. Sen. John Cornyn is in a runoff against state Attorney General Ken Paxton after Trump declined to endorse him. Massie told NBC News that Trump is trying to keep other lawmakers in line by targeting him.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth campaigned for Massie's primary opponent. A New York Times/Siena poll released today showed Trump's approval rating at 37 percent overall. Among Republicans the figure was 82 percent.
