Prime Minister Han Seong-sook Tours Seoul Student Housing Areas on July 4

Prime Minister Han Seong-sook visited neighborhoods near universities in Seoul on July 4 to examine housing conditions for young people. Yonhap reported that Han, who took office earlier in the week, toured Sincheon in western Seoul, an area with concentrated one-room apartments and student dormitories.

"Seeing the situation firsthand helped me better understand the difficulties young people face because of high housing costs," Han said.

The visit reinforced her belief that the government needs to expand the supply of student dormitories and affordable housing for young adults, she added. Han stated that officials should hold discussions on measures that can be implemented quickly to ease the housing burden. She also stressed expanding work-experience programs, including youth internship opportunities.
