Prince Harry intends to continue seeking taxpayer-funded security in the UK to enable additional family visits, according to The Mirror. The Duke of Sussex lost an appeal last year after the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures reduced his security level during UK visits.
A recent trip for Invictus Games events included a reunion with his father at Highgrove House. The Mirror reported that the Duke plans to lobby the Home Secretary and arrange further meetings to spend more time with his grandchildren.
The family met the King and Queen Camilla earlier this month. Reports indicated an offer to stay at Buckingham Palace was withdrawn, which delayed the arrival of other family members until they flew in from Europe. The Duke has argued that his children cannot feel at home in the UK without adequate safety measures.
The Home Office opposed the earlier appeal, stating the decision reflected a unique set of circumstances. The Duke is scheduled to return to the UK next year for the Invictus Games in Birmingham. He currently arranges his own security for visits.
