Pyrotecnico will launch 850,000 individual fireworks from eight barges on the Potomac River for a 40-minute display over the National Mall on July 4, 2026. The show, organized by Freedom 250 as part of the Salute to America 250 Celebration, is scheduled to begin at 10:45 p.m. Eastern Time.
President Trump is set to deliver remarks at 9:45 p.m. Eastern Time before the fireworks start. The event is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of spectators to the Mall. Pyrotecnico has planned the display since January 2026.
Each of the eight barges carries a GPS-synchronized communication device that triggers firing at preset times, according to company president Rocco Vitale. Vitale told @CBSNews reported that the July 4 show is the largest Pyrotecnico has ever produced. The company has previously created displays for Super Bowls and large musical acts.
CBS will broadcast The Great American Block Party 250 live at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, hosted by Tony Dokoupil and Nischelle Turner. The program will air on CBS, Paramount+, and CBS News 24/7.
