Rama Duwaji to Co-Host Sold-Out All-Female Spiritual Retreat in Corsica Starting July 9

Rama Duwaji is scheduled to co-host a sold-out all-female spiritual retreat in Corsica beginning July 9, New York Post reported. The Women Sanctuary, run by Parisian designer Rym Nur, organizes the event where most participants are Muslim women. Attendees will pray at a 15th-century monastery, attend lectures and daily prayers, and eat farm-to-table meals.

The retreat is priced from $3,100 to $5,260 for a private casita with living room, garden views and private bathroom. The group’s website states that participants will honor the legacy of Mary, the only woman mentioned by name in the Quran and referenced 34 times. The website adds that Mary was a Palestinian woman giving birth under occupation.

A 2025 Vogue Arabia article on the prior year’s Corsican retreat said every prayer, lecture and meal included mention of sisters in Palestine. One attendee had recently returned from volunteering for a month at Gaza’s Nasser Hospital helping deliver babies under bombardment.

Last year each participant received a handmade keffiyeh from New York-based Palestinian designer Sarah Musa, who sends all profits from select styles to the Palestine Red Crescent Society and the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.

The Women Sanctuary also runs retreats in Tanzania, Portugal and Spain. Duwaji skipped United States 250th anniversary celebrations over the July 4 weekend to serve as artist-in-residence at a sold-out Plants of the Quran workshop on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

Nicolas Battini, director of Mossa Palatina, stated that Corsica was the only French department during the Nazi occupation that did not deport any Jews and was therefore named the island of the just.
