The Rams and defensive end Myles Garrett agreed to a reworked five-year, $204 million contract, according to multiple reports. The deal maintains the same average annual value and length as the record-setting extension Garrett signed with the Browns. The primary change moves the vesting date of his guarantees back several months, allowing the Rams to complete the acquisition.

Trade details Los Angeles acquired Garrett from Cleveland in a trade that sent edge rusher Jared Verse, a first-round pick in 2027, a second-round pick in 2028, and a conditional third-round pick in 2029 that can become a first-round selection if the Rams later trade Garrett to an AFC North team.

Garrett, 30, had requested a trade from the Browns last year before agreeing to the large extension. The Rams were described as persistent in their pursuit once they made Verse and the draft picks available.

Contract background Garrett finished the third year of a four-year, $30.4 million fully guaranteed contract before signing a five-year, $125 million extension with Cleveland. The Browns later signed him to a four-year, $160 million extension that included $123.5 million in guarantees.

Under the reworked deal, Garrett will average $40.8 million per year. In 2025 he appeared in all 17 games for the Browns, recording 60 tackles, 33 tackles for loss, 23 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one pass defended. >"The Rams and star edge Myles Garrett did not agree on a new deal.
