Rangers reunite three prospects from Flint Firebirds

The New York Rangers reunited Jacob Battaglia, Nathan Aspinall and Darian Anderson after the three players formed a forward line for the Flint Firebirds during the team's most successful season in franchise history. The Rangers acquired Battaglia in a trade from the Flames in exchange for Brennan Othmann.
Battaglia learned of the deal while on the team bus next to Aspinall and showed him an Instagram post confirming the move.
Draft and camp The Rangers selected Anderson with the 163rd overall pick at the end of last month, completing the group that led Flint in scoring during the 2025-26 regular season and playoffs. Aspinall said he immediately contacted his coach after learning of the selection.
All three players took part in the Rangers' development camp at the MSG Training Center in Greenburgh this week. Aspinall said having familiar teammates present made the sessions more comfortable.
Playing roles Battaglia, previously a wing, was moved to center after arriving in Flint. He said the position change allowed him to use his speed more effectively. Anderson is committed to Clarkson University for the 2026-27 season. Aspinall and Battaglia are expected to begin their first full professional seasons in the American Hockey League.
