Rasul Douglas Agrees to One-Year Deal with Washington Commanders

Free agent cornerback Rasul Douglas is planning to sign a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders worth up to $3.8 million, ESPN reported. Douglas, 30, signed with the Dolphins after 53-man roster cuts and played 15 games in the 2025 season. He began the year behind Jack Jones and Storm Duck on the depth chart but entered the starting lineup after Duck suffered an injury in Week 1.

Douglas established himself as the team's top cornerback by season's end. He missed two games with foot and ankle injuries but returned in Week 13 and recorded interceptions in two consecutive games. Douglas was targeted 82 times, allowing 54 catches for 515 yards and three touchdowns while defending 13 passes.

He earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors in Week 14 after defending five passes and intercepting a pass against the New York Jets. Douglas finished the season with 62 tackles, two interceptions and 13 pass breakups in 13 starts. Over his nine-year NFL career he has started 93 games for five teams and recorded 21 interceptions.

Career totals include 503 tackles and 92 pass deflections in 135 games. The Commanders ranked 28th in the NFL in pass yards allowed per game last season at 242.5. Douglas, who turns 31 on August 29, returns to the NFC East after beginning his career with the Philadelphia Eagles.
