Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said he will make a club-record offer of about 150 million euros for an attacking player if re-elected on Sunday. The bid would target a midfielder who can advance forward, he told the Spanish television program Horizonte. Perez stated the player would come from outside the Premier League.

Madrid members pay an annual fee of around 130 pounds and nearly 100,000 of them will vote on Sunday. The club is owned entirely by its members. Perez has held the presidency since winning unopposed in 2009 and has faced an opponent for the first time in 20 years.

Manchester City later said there is "no chance" of Haaland leaving and threatened legal action against challenger Enrique Riquelme. Perez added that re-election would activate previously agreed deals for manager Jose Mourinho, Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries, and Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate.

On Tuesday or so, I'm going to make an offer to a major Champions League club for a great player. It would be the largest transfer fee Real Madrid has ever paid in its history.

Florentino Perez, Horizonte interview Perez said the signing is intended to generate excitement among supporters.
