Red Sox Edge Orioles 6-5 to Extend Winning Streak to 14 Games

The Boston Red Sox defeated the Baltimore Orioles 6-5 on Monday night, with Caleb Durbin connecting on a 1-0 cutter from Tyler Wells with two outs to send the ball over the Green Monster and give Boston the lead for good. The victory extended the Red Sox winning streak to 14 games, the second-longest in club history.

The streak is the longest in MLB since the Milwaukee Brewers achieved the same mark in August 2025. Boston can match its franchise record of 15 straight wins with a victory on Tuesday.

Baltimore had taken a 5-4 lead in the seventh on an RBI grounder by Tyler O'Neill that second baseman Anthony Seigler bobbled. Boston tied the score in the bottom half when Ceddanne Rafaela delivered a two-out RBI single. Garrett Whitlock worked a perfect eighth inning, and Aroldis Chapman recorded his 22nd save of the season by inducing a lineout from O'Neill with runners on second and third.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand, recalled from Triple-A four days earlier, homered over the Green Monster in the fifth and added an RBI single for the Orioles. Baltimore committed four errors and allowed two unearned runs. Shane Baz allowed four runs, two earned, over six innings.

Boston starter Payton Tolle gave up four runs while striking out nine in 5⅔ innings. The Red Sox improved to 19-2 in their past 21 games and hold the best record in MLB since June 25. Through June 24 they stood at 32-46. The win ended Baltimore's season-best seven-game winning streak.

Kyle Bradish is scheduled to start for the Orioles on Tuesday against Boston left-hander Ranger Suárez.
