The Boston Red Sox defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 7-6 on July 18 at Fenway Park, extending their active win streak to 12 games. The Rays held a 6-3 lead entering the bottom of the seventh inning before Boston scored four runs, including a two-run home run by Wilyer Abreu.
The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Cleveland Guardians 7-1 in the first game. Jacob Gonzalez hit a two-run home run, and Jared Jones struck out nine batters while allowing one earned run. The Guardians won the second game on a two-run walk-off home run by Travis Bazzana in the ninth inning after the Pirates bullpen allowed three runs in the eighth.
