Red Sox Promote Pitching Prospect Blake Wehunt to Triple-A Worcester

The Boston Red Sox promoted pitching prospect Blake Wehunt from Double-A Portland to Triple-A Worcester, yardbarker.com reported July 20, 2026. Wehunt, a 25-year-old right-hander, missed most of April with a left hamstring strain but posted a 3.52 ERA in 13 starts for Portland.

Baseball America ranks him as Boston’s No. 25 prospect and 12th among the organization’s pitchers. Born in Georgia, Wehunt was selected by the Red Sox in the ninth round of the 2023 draft out of Kennesaw State and received a $100,000 signing bonus.

A lat strain limited him to 63 1/3 innings at Portland in 2025. He turns 26 in November. Wehunt is scheduled to join Worcester’s rotation for its upcoming series against Jacksonville at Polar Park.
