Red Sox Reach Wild-Card Spot After July 1 Loss and Nine-Game Streak

The Boston Red Sox entered the 2026 All-Star break on a nine-game win streak that began the day after the Boston Celtics traded Jaylen Brown. ESPN reported that on July 1 the Celtics sent Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George and draft picks. 500 and last place in the AL East.
They had July 2 off before starting a nine-game road trip that carried them through the break. During the streak the Red Sox swept the Los Angeles Angels, Chicago White Sox and New York Mets while posting a plus-34 run differential. The run is tied for the third-longest in MLB this season.
Boston has gone 14-2 since June 25. The team trails AL East-leading Tampa Bay by 10 games but sits a half-game out of the final wild-card berth. Boston is the first MLB team to enter the All-Star break on a win streak of nine or more games in consecutive seasons.
The club posted a 10-game streak before the 2025 break, according to Elias Sports Bureau.
