Boston Red Sox right fielder Wilyer Abreu hit two home runs for the second consecutive game as the team defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 7-6 on Saturday night. Abreu delivered a solo homer in the third inning and a two-run shot in the seventh, finishing with three RBIs. The performance came one day after he produced the same output in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday.
Streak and historical context The back-to-back multi-homer games mark the first time a Red Sox player has done so since Mookie Betts in 2016. Abreu now has 15 home runs, 49 RBIs, 49 runs scored and 20 doubles through 95 games. His slash line stands at .266/.338/.462 in 364 at-bats. Those totals place him eight home runs and 21 RBIs from new career highs.
