Richard Tice wrote to the National Crime Agency requesting an investigation into whether the agency leaked private financial information about payments to his company. The request follows media inquiries about the transactions.
channel4.comReform UK deputy leader Richard Tice has written to the National Crime Agency asking whether the agency leaked private financial information about payments to his company to the media. Tice said he learned the payments had been flagged to the agency only after the Guardian newspaper contacted him. Reform UK believes the newspaper obtained its information from the NCA.
Tisun Investment, a company linked to Tice, received an £80,000 loan from a close ally of Reform leader Nigel Farage in late 2024. A think tank owned by Tice received a £1 million donation in June 2024, and data from the Electoral Commission shows the think tank donated £500,000 to Reform UK the same month.
The NCA was notified about the payments through its Suspicious Activity Reports programme, which alerts law enforcement to potential money laundering. In 2024/25 the programme flagged 866,616 cases.
NCA said the agency does not confirm or deny receipt of suspicious activity reports and does not comment on how any report is used. The spokesperson added that breaching confidentiality around the reports risks committing a tipping-off offence under the Proceeds of Crime Act. The NCA often shares information from the reports with police forces and other organisations involved in investigations.
