U.S. Navy Strikes Multiple Iranian Military Sites

U.S. Navy forces struck multiple Iranian military sites today, targeting air defense systems, surface-to-air missiles, anti-ship cruise missiles, drone launch sites, coastal surveillance systems and port facilities. A U.S. official said the operation was conducted by Navy vessels and represented a four- or fivefold increase in scale compared with previous U.S. responses to Iranian violations of a memorandum of understanding.

The strikes focused on installations used for air defense, coastal monitoring and missile launches, according to the official cited by journalist Barak Ravid. The official described the selected sites as directly tied to Iranian coastal and missile capabilities.

The operation used Navy vessels only, without reported involvement from other U.S. military branches. The same official noted that the scale exceeded earlier U.S. responses to similar incidents by a factor of four or five.
