Retired UFC fighter arrested for alleged public drunkenness in Atlanta

Dustin Poirier was arrested at an Atlanta airport earlier this week on a charge of alleged public drunkenness and later released on bail. Police released body camera footage showing Poirier, 37, arguing with an officer and threatening to fight before another officer arrived to complete the arrest. Poirier later fist-bumped the filming officer and said the officer had done a good job.

Statement on social media In an Instagram statement, Poirier said he is seeking help after finding retirement difficult. "I'm at the point where I need some help, walking away from fighting hasn't been easy on me and alcohol isn't the answer," he wrote.

Poirier added that alcohol had harmed his father's life and that he would not let it harm his own. He said his family deserves him at full capacity and that he is taking steps to address his mental state.
