Roy Keane and Bruno Fernandes Resolve Public Podcast Row With Phone Call
Roy Keane and Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes ended a month-long disagreement over a remark about assist records after speaking directly by phone.
The IndependentRoy Keane and Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes resolved a public disagreement over a remark about assist records after a direct phone conversation. Keane described the exchange as a "lovely chat" during an appearance on the Stick to Football podcast. He said Fernandes reached out after the initial comments and that the call covered various topics before settling the matter.
"He apologised, I forgave him, no problem, but no it was a good chat," Keane said. The disagreement began last month when Fernandes accused Keane of making a "lie" on The Overlap podcast. Keane had stated that Fernandes preferred to pass rather than shoot while chasing an assist record.
Fernandes later clarified his comments on The Diary of a CEO podcast, noting that his remarks were the opposite of what Keane described. He indicated he wanted to speak directly with Keane to correct the record. Keane said he prefers to maintain boundaries with current players but accepted the call because it addressed a misunderstanding.
He noted that both he and Fernandes are connected to Manchester United and that direct communication helped clear up how remarks on podcasts can be misinterpreted.
