Russell Wilson Agrees to Join CBS Sports as Pregame Analyst
Quarterback Russell Wilson is set to join CBS Sports' pregame show after receiving an offer from the New York Jets. The move ends his 14-season NFL career that included stints with four teams.
foxnews.comQuarterback Russell Wilson is finalizing a deal to become a CBS Sports analyst, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday. Wilson, 37, will replace Matt Ryan on the network's pregame show that features James Brown, Nate Burleson and Bill Cowher. Matt Ryan left CBS this offseason to become president of football operations for the Atlanta Falcons.
Wilson had an offer from the New York Jets to serve as backup to Geno Smith. He acknowledged last month to the New York Post that he was considering the CBS role. It remains unclear whether Wilson is retiring from the NFL or pausing his playing career.
Wilson was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft. He spent 10 seasons with Seattle, two with the Denver Broncos, one with the Pittsburgh Steelers and played his final season with the New York Giants. Wilson has thrown for 46,966 career passing yards, 353 touchdowns and 114 interceptions.
His passing yardage ranks fifth in the NFL since 2012, behind Matthew Stafford (56,676), Tom Brady (49,235), Aaron Rodgers (48,908) and Matt Ryan (48,554). Wilson's 353 passing touchdowns since 2012 trail only Aaron Rodgers (395) and Matthew Stafford (363). He ranks fourth among quarterbacks with 5,568 career rushing yards, behind Lamar Jackson (6,522), Mike Vick (6,109) and Cam Newton (5,628).
Since 2012, Wilson leads all players with 44 touchdowns on passes of at least 30 yards. He holds Seattle Seahawks franchise records for passing yards (37,059) and touchdown passes (174). ESPN Research contributed to this report.
