Russia launched 73 missiles and 656 drones against targets across Ukraine on June 2, striking 38 locations. Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia reported casualties and damage to residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. The June 2 attack followed Moscow's recent warning of further strikes on the capital, including against what it called Ukraine's "decision-making centers," and its call for foreign citizens and diplomats to leave the city.

It was the second major drone-and-missile assault on Kyiv in less than a month.

Ukrainian officials called for increased military support and tougher sanctions on Russia after the strikes. The attacks occurred despite more than four years of full-scale war and repeated strikes on civilian infrastructure. Casualties included at least six deaths and more than 70 injuries, with damage reported to homes and public facilities in multiple cities.
