Russia launched an overnight bombardment of ballistic missiles and drone swarms that struck multiple districts across Kyiv on 11 July 2026, @AJEnglish reported. The attack wounded at least 11 civilians and damaged critical infrastructure. Initial detonations occurred at 3:38 a.m.
Local time, nearly two minutes before air raid sirens sounded at 3:40 a.m. Russia deployed six Iskander-M or S-400 ballistic missiles from the Bryansk region, six tactical cruise missiles and 121 drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. Ukrainian units downed 111 drones and two cruise missiles, but all six ballistic missiles breached the air defense perimeter.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said an 11-year-old boy was among the wounded and that four people required emergency hospitalization. A transformer substation caught fire in the Darnytskyi district and a three-storey office building burned in the Solomianskyi district.
A railway locomotive suffered heavy damage from a blast wave, and emergency crews used fire trains to contain a 4,000-square-meter blaze at a regional infrastructure facility.
Russian attacks across Kyiv and its metropolitan area have killed more than 60 people since the beginning of July 2026, local authorities said. The same nationwide campaign struck at least 11 infrastructure sites across Ukraine.
