A wildfire in southern Spain killed 12 people in the village of Bedar, including four Britons, BBC News reported. Twenty-three people remain missing. Hundreds of firefighters battled the blaze. A British family on holiday there escaped the fire after arriving in Spain on Thursday.
Lucinda Curtois, her partner Riyaz Cheytan and their teenage children said they had not expected to encounter a wall of fire. They later learned that close family friends had died in the wildfire. "They left their home on foot, I don't know why," Curtois said.
