Ryan Fox won the 154th British Open at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England, on Sunday. Bryson DeChambeau finished tied for 14th at 4 under par after shooting a final-round 72. DeChambeau began the final round four shots behind leader Sam Burns at 6 under par.
He opened the tournament with a 3-under-par 67 on Thursday and stood one shot out of the lead after 36 holes. A two-shot penalty during the second round on Friday prompted DeChambeau to threaten withdrawal. He remained on the range hitting balls until 10:30 p.m.
That evening. DeChambeau declined R&A requests for interviews with print and television reporters after both his opening round and final round. ” Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee said DeChambeau appeared more focused on chasing YouTube golfer Grant Horvat than Scottie Scheffler or Rory McIlroy.
He added, “I’m not particularly fond of him. I think a lot of it’s performative. ” DeChambeau returns to the LIV Golf tour for the remainder of its 2026 season.
