Samsung CEO Publishes Editorial on AI and Previews New Foldable Phone at July 22 Event

Samsung CEO and President TM Roh published an editorial on July 8 titled “AI Doesn’t Need to Outthink You. It Needs to Understand You” on news.samsung.com. Forbes.com reported that the post signals elements expected at the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July 22.

Roh described AI as entering an “agentic age” that succeeds by understanding users rather than outperforming them. He wrote that “History repeats a pattern,” comparing AI’s societal role to electricity, the internet and the phone. The editorial detailed how devices integrate with daily life.

“The phone is closest to us, with us daily. The tablet is where we create and learn. The watch reads signals like sleep and heart rate. The TV and connected home appliances add context from where we live,” Roh stated.

Samsung confirmed a new foldable phone format will appear at the July 22 event. The company is also working on smart glasses with Google that were unveiled at Google I/O. ” He pointed to Samsung’s progress on foldables, noting the company is on its eighth generation of the devices.
