San Diego Police Report Two Teens Killed Three at Mosque Before Suicide
Two 18- and 17-year-old males carried out a shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday, killing three people before taking their own lives. Police recovered more than 30 firearms and a crossbow linked to the pair.
New York PostTwo teenagers drove to the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday and opened fire, killing three people before fleeing and later dying by suicide in their getaway vehicle. Law enforcement sources told the New York Post that 18-year-old Caleb Vazquez left the Park Mental Health Treatment Center the morning before the attack.
Vazquez had been the subject of a firearms restraining order issued after a 2025 welfare check prompted by a 911 call about his social media posts.
The 17-year-old co-suspect, Cain Clark, left his home the morning of the shooting with firearms that belonged to the household. His mother placed a 911 call reporting the departure. Police said both individuals had been flagged to authorities before the attack. Officers recovered more than 30 guns and a crossbow connected to the suspects.
The victims were identified as Mansour Kaziha, Nader Awad, and security guard Amin Abdullah. San Diego police chief Scott Wahl said the security guard helped limit the shooting to the front area of the mosque. Officials stated the pair wore Nazi symbols, etched statements into their equipment, and left a manifesto containing derogatory references to multiple groups and calls for a race war.
The FBI is examining livestream footage of the attack.
