Scottie Scheffler Ties for Fourth at The Open Championship

Scheffler ended three shots behind on seven-under par after rounds of 68, 68, 70 and 67 at Royal Birkdale, where Ryan Fox claimed the title. He recorded 13 birdies, 53 pars and six bogeys at the venue.

On the par-five 17th hole in the final round, Scheffler's ball landed in the hospitality area near a Temporary Immovable Obstruction. He received a free drop under the rules and carded a birdie four.

Scheffler said the rules official told him the ball landed just barely left of the grandstand area. He instructed his security personnel and caddie not to search for or find the ball, opting instead for point-of-entry relief. Scheffler won The Open Championship in 2025 at Royal Portrush.
