Senate Minority Leader appears to break wind during floor speech

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer appeared to break wind during a speech on the Senate floor Tuesday. The 75-year-old was addressing the chamber about the war in Iran and the NDAA when an audible sound occurred. “Now on Iran and the NDAA,” Schumer said before the sound.

Prior similar incident A comparable incident occurred in 2019 when former California Representative Eric Swalwell appeared to break wind during an MSNBC interview. Swalwell denied responsibility at the time, and the network later attributed the sound to a mug scraping a desk. Schumer has not directly addressed the Senate floor incident.
