Senator Wears Mexico Jersey at World Cup Watch Party

Sen. Mark Kelly posted photos of himself in a Mexico jersey while attending a World Cup watch party in Tucson for the match between Mexico and England. The senator wrote on X that many people had gathered in Tucson to watch the game and that the city and venue knew how to host the event.

The post prompted immediate criticism on the platform.

Conservative commentator Scott Jennings wrote that the modern Democratic Party wears another country’s jersey and posts photos of itself. Outkick founder Clay Travis posted that he was surprised the senator was not wearing an Iran jersey. Writer Scott Greer stated that Democrats find a country they can be proud of.

Mexico lost the match to England by a score of 2-3 after England played with ten players following a red card. The result eliminated Mexico from the tournament. FIFA overturned a red card issued to a U.S. striker in the previous game against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
