Sentry Insurance, based in Wisconsin, will serve as the new title sponsor of the PGA Tour event at Torrey Pines beginning in 2027. The company previously held the same role at Kapalua for eight years starting in 2018. The Sentry will be played January 27-30, 2027, on the North and South courses at Torrey Pines, a municipal course in San Diego that has hosted PGA Tour events since 1968.

The tournament will conclude on Saturday to avoid overlap with the NFL conference championship games. The Sentry will be the second event of the 2027 PGA Tour season, one week after The American Express in La Quinta, California. Its placement after 2028 remains undecided as the tour develops a revised schedule.

The tournament was not held in 2026 because of a water dispute on Maui that left the Plantation course at Kapalua unlikely to be ready. The PGA Tour later eliminated the Hawaii swing that included both Kapalua and the Sony Open on Oahu. Farmers Insurance did not renew its sponsorship of the Torrey Pines event.

The San Diego tournament dates to 1952, and 2027 will mark the 60th time it has been played at Torrey Pines. S. Open in 2008 and 2021. "For 75 years the PGA Tour has hosted elite competition in San Diego, including the last 60 at revered Torrey Pines, and we are proud to build upon that legacy and longtime philanthropic impact with our partners at Sentry Insurance," PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp said in a release.

The Century Club of San Diego will continue to operate the tournament. "We're excited to partner with Sentry, a longtime partner of the PGA Tour, and widely known for their reputation for impactful community engagement," said Marty Gorsich, CEO of the Century Club of San Diego.

Justin Rose won the most recent edition of the event, then called the Farmers Insurance Open, in January with a record score of 23-under 265 for a seven-shot victory.

He became the first player to lead wire-to-wire at Torrey Pines.
