Lawler recalled responding that he is Irish-Italian Catholic. According to Lawler, Paul then expressed surprise and continued the conversation by discussing the Middle East, claiming the United States was trying to steal Iran's land for the Jews and steal the West Bank.
At that point, Paul stated that "this war, it's all about the gays and the Jews, and I hate them both, and I don't care if they die," Lawler reported. Paul had worked as digital director for Rep. Alex Mooney from August 2024 to January 2025. He has also worked at the conservative group FreedomWorks Inc.
and Americans for Tax Reform. In March, Sen. Rand Paul had opposed the nomination of Sen. ) to lead the Department of Homeland Security, citing concerns over Mullin's endorsement of dueling to resolve political differences. Paul also accused GOP megadonor Paul Singer of doing Israel's bidding before leaving the bar.

Wednesday afternoon, William Paul posted on his X account: "Last night, I had too much to drink and said some things that don't represent who I really am. " The 33-year-old previously pleaded guilty in 2015 to driving under the influence after an incident in which he was described as belligerent.
Two years earlier, he was arrested and charged with consuming alcohol underage and disorderly conduct after an incident on a flight. Representatives for Sen. Rand Paul's Senate office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
