forbes.comSony has released the Reon Pocket Pro Plus, a wearable personal air conditioner designed to be worn under clothing. The device uses a stainless-steel cooling panel that presses against the back of the neck and is held in place by an adaptable neckband.
The new model offers up to 20 percent higher cooling performance than the previous version, allowing the cooling plate to reach an additional 2 degrees Celsius lower temperature. Battery life remains up to ten hours on the second-highest setting, and the device includes an automatic shutdown system to prevent overheating.
The Reon Pocket Pro Plus includes a supplied tag that attaches to a belt or bag and monitors ambient temperature and humidity. The tag connects wirelessly to the device to adjust cooling output based on environmental conditions. Sensors monitor skin temperature to maintain comfort and safety.
An adjustable air vent dissipates heat away from the body and can be positioned for use under either a T-shirt or a collared shirt.
A U.S. price is expected around $270. The device can also provide warming during winter months. Earlier models were previously sold in Asia, with limited releases in Europe beginning in 2025.
