South Korea, Japan Defense Ministers Agree to Expand AI, Aerobatic Cooperation
Defense ministers Ahn Gyu-back and Shinjiro Koizumi met Sunday in Seoul and agreed to advance exchanges between their aerobatic teams and to increase cooperation in artificial intelligence and maritime search and rescue. South Korean Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back and Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi agreed Sunday to continue advancing exchanges between their countries' aerobatic teams and to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence and maritime search and rescue exercises.
The ministers held bilateral talks at the South Korean defense ministry headquarters in Yongsan, Seoul. They inspected an honor guard during an official welcoming ceremony before the meeting.
A joint press statement released after the talks said the two sides agreed to continue advancing exchanges and cooperation between South Korea's Black Eagles and Japan's Blue Impulse aerobatic teams. The statement added that they also agreed to further develop search and rescue exercises for various maritime contingencies and to push for greater cooperation in advanced science and technology fields, including AI.
The South Korean defense ministry said the ministers affirmed a shared commitment to deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation, including in advanced technologies such as AI.
