Second Vice Foreign Minister Kim Jina will attend the second Pax Silica Summit in Washington on Thursday and Friday as South Korea's chief delegate. The U.S. State Department launched the summit in December to address artificial intelligence supply chains.
Yonhap reported that the event brings together officials from South Korea, Japan, Singapore, the Netherlands, Britain, Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Australia. Kim is scheduled to hold bilateral talks on the sidelines with Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg.
The two officials will exchange views on broader economic cooperation between the two countries, the foreign ministry said.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Park Il addressed the plans at a press briefing on Tuesday. "The stable supply of critical minerals and the formation of resilient markets are crucial issues for our economic security," Park said. " Yonhap reported the ministry's announcement on the planned participation.
