The southern route through the Strait of Hormuz is open again for all traffic. A new Joint Maritime Information Center advisory says the corridor has been expanded, and ships can move through day or night as long as they keep their AIS on, radars going, and lights on. The threat level remains substantial.
The advisory notes a mine danger area that vessels must monitor and states that naval forces continue to hail ships over VHF radio. Checking in with NCAGS is encouraged but not required. Ships can make the run on their own.
