SpaceX filed an S-1 registration statement showing purchases of Tesla products totaling hundreds of millions of dollars. The filing covers transactions from 2024 through the first quarter of 2026.
SpaceX filed a 277-page S-1 registration statement on Wednesday that disclosed purchases of Tesla products. The filing showed that SpaceX and its recently acquired affiliate xAI bought $697 million in Tesla Megapack products across 2024 and 2025. The document also reported that SpaceX purchased $131 million in Cybertrucks during 2025.
An additional $34 million in Megapacks was acquired between January and March of this year.
The filing described other commercial ties between the companies. These included development work on voice-assistance features for Tesla vehicles, plans for a combined-use chip factory, and Tesla advertising purchases on X. "SpaceX and Tesla developed the early foundation of a strong and constructive partnership through a series of limited but successful commercial engagements," the filing stated.
Goldstein, an equity strategist at Morningstar who covers Tesla, said the related-party spending is a little unique to Tesla and SpaceX. He added that purchases of work trucks and batteries for energy storage would be necessary for SpaceX's business.
Goldstein noted that most companies receive a discount when buying products in bulk. Tesla sold 20,237 Cybertrucks in 2025, according to Kelley Blue Book. Based on posted MSRPs, the $131 million Cybertruck purchase would represent roughly 1,183 to 1,813 vehicles, or about 6% to 9% of Tesla's total Cybertruck sales last year.
SpaceX did not respond to a request for comment.
