New Spyro Game Announced for 2027 Release

A new Spyro game was announced during the Xbox Game Showcase. The title, Spyro: Realms Beyond, marks the first original entry in the series since 2008. The project is being developed by Toys for Bob in California. It will launch in spring 2027 on Xbox, PlayStation 5, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.

The game features a redesigned Spyro voiced by the original actor. Players can fly at any time, with controls that let them dive to maintain speed. The studio previously created the 2018 Spyro Reignited Trilogy remaster and the Skylanders series. It now operates independently after earlier work under Activision.

A studio executive said the team aims to create welcoming, optimistic experiences for both longtime fans and new players. The executive added that the studio’s mission is to inspire love, joy and laughter. The announcement comes as the original Spyro audience has reached adulthood, requiring the new game to attract both returning players and children.
