Scientists have created embryo organoids from stem cells that replicate early stages of human pregnancy inside laboratory dishes. These structures form after fertilization and mimic the cellular organization seen in natural embryos during the initial weeks of development.

The organoids enable direct observation of implantation and placental formation, events that occur before most clinical pregnancies are detected. Researchers can now test how genetic or environmental factors alter these processes without using actual embryos.

The models are being examined for insights into infertility, recurrent miscarriage, and pre-eclampsia. Laboratory access to these stages may support development of diagnostic tests or interventions for conditions that currently lack preventive treatments.
