Stephen Miller Recuses From Paramount Matters Involving Wife Katie Miller

Miller had been talking informally for months with Paramount executives about selling her media property, The Katie Miller Podcast, to the news-media giant. Two people familiar with the plans described the discussions but spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss nonpublic information.

A purchase by Paramount would represent a major development for the podcast, which Miller launched in August after leaving White House work. The podcast features unusually intimate conversations with Trump administration officials and their spouses.

Miller has interviewed Vice President Vance, then-Attorney General Pam Bondi, then-Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, and Robert F.

Stephen Miller recused himself last year from matters involving artificial intelligence. That step came after Katie Miller maintained a part-time consulting contract with xAI, the company that owns the Grok chatbot and the social-media platform X. A spokesperson for the couple said in a statement that Katie Miller is an accomplished professional with over a decade of senior government and media experience.

The White House counsel has determined that Miller does not need to recuse from matters related to sponsors of Katie Miller's podcast. The counsel concluded that sponsorships differ from consulting arrangements. No evidence has surfaced that either of the Millers has taken action to help a podcast sponsor outside of the show itself.

Several people familiar with the podcast operation criticized Katie Miller. They said her pitch to guests, who have included Cabinet secretaries and corporate leaders with interests before the White House, is tied to her marriage to one of the president's most senior advisers.

Global is seeking federal approval for its takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery. In July, Paramount agreed to pay $16 million, largely to the president's future library, to settle a civil lawsuit brought by Trump over a 2024 60 Minutes segment that he believed was edited unfairly.

Last year, Ellison appointed new leadership at CBS News that has changed programming in ways viewed by some as more sympathetic to the current administration. An acquisition of the podcast would bring Paramount's network of news properties closer to the inner circle of the Trump administration.
