Summer Game Fest 2026 showcases new game releases and dates
Multiple gaming events this week featured announcements for upcoming titles from PlayStation, Xbox, and independent developers. The schedule includes new looks at Wolverine, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, and several remakes.

PlayStation held an event that showed new footage of Wolverine ahead of its September launch and announced a September release date for Control Resonant. The presentation also included an extended look at a new God of War title. Summer Game Fest Live on Friday featured Final Fantasy VII Revelation as the third and final entry in the FFVII Remake trilogy.
The same event announced a Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake and a January 15 release date for RGG Studio’s Stranger Than Heaven.
Additional announcements Fellow Traveller’s Story-Rich Showcase presented more than 20 narrative-driven indie games. Ambrosia Sky will receive its second act as a free update on August 6, after which its price will rise from $14.99 to $24.99. Wholesome Direct 2026 displayed more than 50 titles with a focus on smaller, independent projects.
Hidden Folks 2 is scheduled for release in 2027 on mobile and PC.
PC hardware prices have increased across major manufacturers. The events occur ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI’s November 19 release date, which has influenced other publishers’ scheduling decisions. Xbox is scheduled to hold its presentation on Sunday at 1 PM ET.
