Suni Lee Announces Return to Elite Gymnastics on Social Media

Suni Lee announced her return to elite gymnastics on social media Tuesday morning. ” Lee has collected six Olympic medals across the 2021 and 2024 Games. In Tokyo she won the all-around title as the first gymnast of Asian descent to do so, along with team silver and uneven bars bronze.

In Paris she helped the U.S. team win gold and earned bronze medals in the all-around and on uneven bars. She ranks as the seventh most-decorated American gymnast of all time. Her collegiate career at Auburn University ended in April 2023 after the sudden onset of kidney disease.

While at Auburn she won the NCAA title on balance beam. Lee intends to return to Minnesota to train at Midwest Gymnastics. Her announcement joins similar plans from 2024 Olympic teammates Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera, as well as 29-year-old Katelyn Ohashi.
