americanrifleman.orgTaurus has been granted a MiFID II investment license by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. CoinDesk reported the development on May 6, 2026. The license allows Taurus to offer tokenized financial instruments to EU banks as well as secondary trading for tokenized bonds, fund shares, equities, and structured products.
As a fully regulated entity incorporated in Europe, Taurus can now offer classical investment services for transferable securities and give clients the possibility to buy or sell DLT financial instruments such as tokenized equity, tokenized debt, and tokenized fund shares.
Sébastien Dessimoz, co-founder and Managing Partner at Taurus, said the move aligns Taurus with the expectations of institutional clients. “Banks like to face fully regulated entities that are similar to the one they used to work with,” he stated.
Dessimoz added that Taurus now meets the same standards as its counterparties. ” He said that banks and institutions can be sure Taurus is subject to all the necessary guarantees and that Taurus is onshore in Europe, which is highly appreciated. MiFID II is the European Union’s core regulatory framework for investment services, trading venues, and financial assets such as equities, bonds, derivatives, and structured products.
The license therefore lets Taurus bridge its crypto-native infrastructure with the regulatory perimeter used by banks and asset managers. Taurus already holds a licence from Swiss regulator FINMA. It has an EU Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) application in the pipeline.
The firm works on crypto custody and tokenization with Deutsche Bank, ClearBank, KBC, Santander, State Street, CACEIS, Pictet, and Swissquote. com, hold MiFID II licenses. Dessimoz said the license positions Taurus to serve institutional clients in their preferred format while remaining fully compliant.
The company’s existing relationships with major banks and asset managers provided the foundation for expanding into these regulated investment services.
