yardbarker.comA team that traded away a receiver in March now faces questions at the position heading into the season. Several players are competing for the remaining starting role. The team kept one receiver with a four-year, $114 million contract. That player underwent ankle surgery and his availability for training camp remains uncertain.
Four players are in contention for the open starting spot. They include a player who has been with the team since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2019, a free-agent addition, another veteran, and a seventh-round rookie. The player signed in 2019 has spent four seasons under the current head coach.
He has primarily been used on special teams, logging between 51% and 71% of special-teams snaps in each of his five seasons.
The same player has recorded 40 receptions and four touchdowns in 82 career games. He combined for seven catches across 27 games in 2024 and 2025. The free-agent addition posted four straight seasons of more than 25 receptions and 370 yards with a previous team before recording 11 catches and 89 yards last year.
The veteran was a first-round selection in 2016 and has not recorded a reception since 2023. If none of the four players is deemed ready, the team could pursue one of several available veterans still on the free-agent market.
