Texas Democrat Says She Has No Plan to Attend State Convention

Crockett made the remarks to The Dallas Morning News after the nominee, a Texas state representative, won a competitive March primary. The nominee now faces Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Crockett told the outlet she does not plan to attend the Texas Democratic Party convention and is instead focused on down-ballot races. She described her invitation as an "afterthought invite" and said she had received a missed call that she had not returned.
Texas Democratic Party Chair Kendall Scudder said Crockett has held a standing invitation since March and that the party reached out to her staff months ago. The nominee's campaign told The Dallas Morning News that he called Crockett and left a message suggesting she serve as keynote speaker.
Crockett questioned whether Democrats have fully united behind the nominee and the party's statewide ticket, particularly among Black voters. " Two recent polls show the race close. A Quantus Insights survey conducted June 3-4 found Paxton leading 45 percent to 43 percent.
A Texas Pulse Poll conducted June 1-4 showed the candidates tied at 46 percent each.
