Texas GOP Senate Runoff Pits Cornyn Against Paxton

Sen. U.S. Senate if Ken Paxton wins the Republican primary runoff election held today. Cornyn told Fox News Digital that Paxton’s legal issues and personal matters would be used against him by Democrats in the general election. He noted that state Rep. James Talarico has already raised $27 million in the first quarter.

Cornyn said a Paxton victory could affect not only the Senate seat but also down-ballot Republican candidates in state legislative and judicial races. He pointed out that no Democrat has won a statewide office in Texas since 1994. Cornyn stated he believes he would provide a larger margin of victory than Paxton and help other Republican candidates.

” Trump said Cornyn had not supported him during difficult periods. Paxton said Cornyn opposed Trump on border security and the border wall and had questioned Trump’s 2024 candidacy. 3 percent of the time and that Texas voters would decide the race. Paxton was impeached by the Texas House in 2023 but acquitted by the state Senate. He is also involved in divorce proceedings filed last year.
