Texas Tech Defeats Florida in College World Series Super Regional

Texas Tech defeated Florida in a three-game NCAA softball super regional series played in Gainesville, Florida, advancing with a 57-7 record. The Red Raiders won Game 1 by a score of 10-8, Game 2 by 10-2, and Game 3 by 16-7. Mia Williams, who played for Florida in 2024 and 2025 before transferring to Texas Tech, was hit by five pitches across the series.

Florida pitcher Keagan Rothrock hit Williams twice. Her father, Jason Williams, was ejected from the stadium during Game 1 after yelling toward the Florida dugout.

After the ejection, Jason Williams was later allowed back into the stadium. Florida manager Tim Walton was ejected during Game 3. Rothrock was not permitted to return after Game 1. Mia Williams hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning of Game 1 and another home run in Game 3.

She performed a bat flip after the Game 3 homer. " Walton stated after Game 3 that he saw no intent behind the pitches that hit Williams. "It makes no sense to me at all," he said. " Jason Williams, who attended Florida as a student, gave a postgame speech to the Texas Tech team on the field after Game 3.

Mia Williams' mother posted on Facebook that Florida should acquire better pitchers. Texas Tech will next face Mississippi State in the College World Series.
