CBS SportsTexas Tech defeated UCLA 8-7 in nine innings on May 31, 2026, at Devon Park in Oklahoma City to reach the Women's College World Series semifinals. The No. 11 seed Red Raiders erased a three-run deficit in the seventh inning before taking the lead in extra innings.
Kaitlyn Terry, who transferred from UCLA after the 2025 season, drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI double in extra innings and later added an insurance run. Terry also allowed two runs and struck out seven in five innings on the mound. "Her ball was really moving -- she got so many swing-and-misses," Texas Tech coach Gerry Glasco said.
"When you watch KT, you see the ultimate competitor. " UCLA's Jordan Woolery hit two home runs, including a two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh that sent the game to extra innings, and singled in a run in the ninth. NiJaree Canady struck out Bri Alejandre on a full-count pitch with two runners on base to end the game.
"I'm grateful to have the opportunity to play with her and be able to be together, especially in that last moment," Woolery said. " UCLA finished the 2026 season with a national-record 209 home runs. Megan Grant hit 42 home runs and broke the UCLA career record with her 91st.
Grant and Jordan Woolery became the only teammates in Division I history to each hit 30 or more home runs in the same season. Earlier on May 31, No. 2 Texas defeated No. 4 Nebraska 3-1. Katie Stewart hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning.
Jordy Frahm carried a no-hitter into the sixth and hit a leadoff home run in the first before Teagan Kavan allowed three hits the rest of the way. The four teams remaining in the 2026 Women's College World Series semifinals are Texas Tech, Texas, Tennessee, and Alabama. Tennessee and Alabama enter at 2-0.
Texas Tech and Texas must each win twice on June 1 to reach the championship series.
