Three advanced nuclear reactors reach criticality ahead of July deadline
The Department of Energy confirmed that three small reactors achieved criticality by late June, meeting a target set last year. Oil prices fell more than 1 percent as indirect U.S.-Iran talks continued in Doha.

The Department of Energy reported that three advanced small nuclear reactors reached criticality by late June, four days before a July 4 target set last year. The third reactor, a 1-megawatt microreactor called Unity developed by Deployable Energy, achieved criticality yesterday under the Nuclear Energy Launch Pad initiative.
Two earlier reactors from Antares Nuclear and Valar Atomics reached the milestone earlier in June under the Pilot Reactor Program.
