Three British Pakistani men charged with 46 child sex offences in Bury

Greater Manchester Police charged three British Pakistani men with a total of 46 offences relating to child sex abuse. The alleged offences took place between 1996 and 2001 in the market town of Bury and involved ten girls aged 14 to 16. Ashfaq Khan, 46, of Bury, faces 36 counts including rape, attempted rape, indecent assault, and false imprisonment.

Zaheer Iqbal, 52, of Accrington, Lancashire, is accused of four counts of rape and two counts of false imprisonment. Qamar Jehangeer, 38, of Bolton, Greater Manchester, faces four counts of rape.

The charges resulted from Operation Sky, described by police as a complex and sensitive investigation focused on the town. Greater Manchester Police stated officers are working with trauma-informed support services to safeguard those affected. All three men are scheduled to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
