Three LNG tankers exit Strait of Hormuz with transponders off

Three liquefied natural gas tankers exited the Strait of Hormuz with their transponders turned off and are bound for destinations in Asia. Ship-tracking data from LSEG and Kpler showed the tankers reappearing on June 10 after earlier departures from Qatar. The vessels carried cargoes loaded at Ras Laffan.

Tanker movements Two of the tankers, Lebrethah and Rasheeda, are controlled by QatarEnergy. Lebrethah is traveling to Pakistan while Rasheeda is nearing Southeast Asia. The third tanker, Marigold, is managed by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and is expected to reach India. Twelve LNG cargoes have left the strait since fighting began at the end of February.

Regional developments Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned recent U.S. strikes, stating they rendered the April 8 ceasefire meaningless. The ministry called the attacks a violation of the UN Charter. Authorities in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan reported intercepting missiles.

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said an 11-year-old girl suffered minor injuries. Iran’s top joint military command warned it would fire on vessels attempting to pass through the strait. U.S. Central Command stated that commercial ships continue to transit the waterway.
