Titans Name Brian Daboll Offensive Coordinator Under New Head Coach Robert Saleh
New coordinator Brian Daboll worked with quarterback Cam Ward during OTAs that opened last week. Ward called Daboll a 'perfect fit' for the offense.
ESPNThe Tennessee Titans opened organized team activities last week with new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll directing drills alongside second-year quarterback Cam Ward. Robert Saleh was hired as head coach in January 2026 and immediately brought in Daboll to run the offense.
Daboll previously served as offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, where he helped develop Josh Allen into a perennial MVP candidate, and for the New York Giants, where he worked with rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart in the 2025 season.
Cam Ward suffered a throwing-shoulder injury on the opening drive of the 2025 season finale yet passed for 10 of his 15 touchdowns over the final eight games. He has resumed throwing and participated fully in OTAs. During the first OTA session open to media, Ward completed a pass to tight end Gunnar Helm in a two-minute drill.
Two plays later he threw to rookie wide receiver Carnell Tate on a route designed by Daboll. Daboll then instructed officials to spot the ball short of the end zone so Ward could run another play inside the 10-yard line; Ward threw again to Tate, who caught the ball in the back of the end zone over cornerback Joshua Williams.
The Titans converted 68 percent of their trips inside the 10-yard line last season, ranking 25th in the NFL.
Daboll’s early emphasis on red-zone execution reflects one area targeted for improvement. Ward said Daboll is the “perfect fit” for the Titans’ offense. “He’s going to put us all in great situations,” Ward said.
“He’s going to put the ball in my hands as much as he needs to. He believes in not only myself, but the playmakers I have around me, and the O-line to protect. ” Ward added that the two discussed concepts Daboll used with Josh Allen and that Daboll incorporates elements learned while working with Brett Favre and Tom Brady.
Daboll described his approach at his introductory news conference: “Every situation is unique. The most important thing is to first develop the relationship with the young man. ” ESPN reported that the Titans will be in strong position if Daboll replicates with Ward the success he had developing Allen in Buffalo.
